How does the 'General Ledger Account Comparison' dashboard work?

The standard 'General Ledger Account Comparison' dashboard provides insight into the performance development per general ledger account. It is used to compare realized results with budgets and with the same period of the previous fiscal year.

General Function

The General Ledger Account Comparison dashboard provides an overview of the balances of all profit and loss general ledger accounts of the registered fiscal year, with the corresponding budgets. The period balances are compared with the previous fiscal year.

Technical Explanation

Primary Data Source

  • General Ledger Accounts (grbk)

Indirectly Queried Data Sources

  • Fiscal Years (adbj)

Data Source Filtering

  • The primary data source is filtered on profit and loss accounts via grbk_soort = 2.
  • The tree structure and all overviews show only records for which the calculated field Show = true.
  • When the NoBalance parameter is active, only general ledger accounts for which t_budget, t_dc, or t_dc_vorig_jaar deviates from 0 are displayed.
  • Dashboard filters are available via Sub 1 (grbk_sub1) and Sub 1 and 2 (grbk_sub2).

Calculated Fields

  • PeriodFrom: contains the selected start period.
    Calculation: uses parameter PeriodFrom.
  • PeriodTo: contains the selected end period.
    Calculation: uses parameter PeriodTo.
  • Sub: forms a categorization for the tree structure.
Calculation: combines fixed text with grbk_sub1.
  • Spacer: used as a separator field in the overviews.
    Calculation: contains an empty value.
  • LastFiscalYear: determines the previous fiscal year.
    Calculation: decreases adbj_boekjaar by 1.
  • NoBalance: shows the setting for suppressing accounts without balance and budget.
Calculation: displays a message when the NoBalance parameter is active.
  • Show: determines whether a general ledger account is visible.
Calculation: when the NoBalance parameter is active, it checks whether t_budget, t_dc, or t_dc_vorig_jaar deviates from 0. Only then is the account displayed.
  • MKGDataDashboardTitle: contains a dashboard title.
Calculation: contains an empty text value.
  • Period99: shows the setting for period 99.
Calculation: translates parameter Period99 to a textual indication incl. or excl. period 99.
